Scroll down until you find "TarGA image", then click that. This should bring up the dropdown for the different file types. To select TarGA files in 2.10.18, click "Select File Type (By Extension)" at the bottom of the Export Image screen (it should have a white plus symbol in a black box to the left of it). Note: GIMP 2.10.18 (the current version, at the time of writing) changed the way to access the dropdown for different file types. the origin doesn't matter, but make sure to uncheck RLE compression, otherwise, the image won't be detected by the game. Once you hit the button, a window will pop up with RLE compression and the origin. Then, replace the image's extension (the last three letters in its name) with ".tga" (no quotation marks) Once you're done with that, hit Export. Navigate to where you want your image, and then select "TarGA image (*.tga)" from the dropdown list at the bottom. Once you're done resizing your image, adding an alpha channel, and deleting the background, go to File, then click Export As. Be sure to delete the white background while you're at it, or you'll have a massive white square on your troops' shoulder pads. If you don't make them these sizes, the game won't detect them when you put them in their respective folders later.Īlso, right click on the Layer window and add an alpha channel, otherwise your image won't be read by the game.
If you're making a banner, scale it down to 64x96. If you're making a badge, scale it down to 64圆4 pixels. After you're done changing your picture's size, click on Image, (at the top of the screen) and then click Scale Image. If you keep it small, you're going to have trouble seeing it on your units after the next step.
Now, make your picture big enough to take up most of the image. To keep your image in its original dimensions, hold down Ctrl as you click and drag. Now, you should be able to resize it by clicking and dragging the boxes on the corners of the box around the image. Once you've opened your image as a layer, click on the Scale Tool, (its icon is a square on the upper left, an arrow going to the lower right, and a larger square on the lower right) then click on your image.
